What each computer is in charge of:

DEV1 - Stores software and raw data

DEV2 - Runs LabView winch control and sends data to iPad

DEV3 - Plots and processes incoming data


At the beginning of the cruise:

At the start of an Epsi or FastCTD deployment:

Quick overview:

In order to start a realtime FastCTD or Epsi Mako deployment, you need to do several things on different computers (see Computer Station set up and cheat sheet)

  1. Turn on the instrument (Power supply)
  2. Start acquiring the instrument data (DEV1)
  3. Start the winch control system (DEV2)
  4. Start plotting the incoming data (DEV3)

Detailed instructions:

On the deckbox

  1. Turn on POWER button (on the left).
  2. Turn on OUTPUT button (sends power down the line).
  3. Flip switch for PSI modem to on.
  4. Flip big switch (on the right) to on.
  5. Wait for PSI modem lights to turn steady green and red.
