Each computer’s job:

Physical set up

• GPS feed comes from serial connection to ship. Use a long serial cable with male side to ship and female side to a RS-232 dongle that plugs into

  • This is what is read by ./fctd_epsi under PCode

  

• The time server comes from the GPS antennae we set up outside

• Once it’s hooked up to the GPS port, make sure all computers Settings “Date & Time” point to its address, 192.168.1.250

• Run this command in Terminal: sudo sntp -sSd 192.168.1.250

• If you want UDP (to get things like Alex’s python code for situational awareness working), you need to find DEV3’s IP address on the ship’s wifi network
  • Click on the 3 dots next to the wifi network, click Network Settings, look at IP address

Connect computers and directories to one another

Set up directories and scripts on each computer

Set up real time scripts (Alex Negrila’s code)

• On DEV1, navigate to /Users/Shared/Software_current_cruise/OCEAN/ModRawServer
  • python ModrawServer.py

Set up syncing from DEV1 to DEV3

Set up syncing to share drive and hard drive

Check that all SBE calibration files you may need on the cruise are in the calibration directory
