Open a terminal connection to the USB-serial port connected to the fish at baud rate 230400. On DEV1 you can use the alias miniterm.

miniterm tty.usbserial-FT8FVURA 230400 %or whatever usbserial dongle you have

Hit enter. You should see $

Type help into the terminal and confirm the menu shows up.

Type som.start. You should see data streaming in.

If you’d like to run a menu command, here are list of some handy commands.

  1. som.fctd → Tell the SOM it is a FCTD
  2. som.espi → Tell the SOM it is an epsi
  3. som.start → Tell the SOM to power up and start sampling everything it is configured to sample (SBE49, ISA500, Tridente, analog epsi channels like ucond; shear; fp07). Send all the data to the terminal.
  4. sbe.start → Tell the SBE to start and output data to the terminal
  5. sbe.stop → Tell the SBE to stop
  6. sbe.dcal → Send SBE dcal data to the terminal
  7. efe.start → Start EFE sampling and send data to the terminal
  8. efe.stop → Stop efe sampling
  9. actu.ptc → actuator out
